Biography
The beginnings
Born and raised in Rijeka, Croatia, Maja has shown interest in various art forms since childhood. Making her first dance steps at age 6, she gain some foundations in ballet, jazz, and contemporary by being a part of a few amateur dance troupes in Rijeka, which she later built on and added more urban dance vocabulary by attending numerous classes and workshops around Croatia and Europe.
Soon her passion for dance and creation evolved into choreographing, while her natural talent for guidance and teaching opened many opportunities for her to teach classes and workshops.
Her formal education includes a Master’s degree from the University of Philosophy in Rijeka, where she majored in History of Art and English Language and Literature, specializing in being an educator. However, her love for dance and hunger for more knowledge and experience brought her to New York City.
Moving to New York
By then she was already established as one of the most sought dancers in Croatia, she taught classes throughout Croatia and Europe, and her choreography gained recognition in national and international dance competitions. She is also one of the co-founders of the K2K dance center in Rijeka, Croatia.
Soon after moving to New York City in 2014, and then to Los Angeles in 2015, her career as a professional dancer took off.
She has gained such broad experience working with legendary choreographers, directors, and music artists, collaborating with major brands, performing on some of the world’s biggest TV and live shows and events, and traveling the world as one of Justin Timberlake’s dancers on his “Man of the Woods” tour. Maja currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
